Formed in 2001, the Marine Conservation Alliance promotes practical, science-based policies for managing the marine resources of the North Pacific and Bering Sea. We support the rational use of the precautionary principle and advocate for the “Alaska model” of fisheries management where marine habitat is protected to the extent practicable, overfishing does not occur, and the industry works hand-in-hand with government agencies to develop new and innovative tools for managing our fisheries. MCA is made up of coastal communities, harvesters, processors, western Alaska Community Development Quota organizations, and others. Collectively our members harvest the majority of the seafood caught in federal waters off the State of Alaska.
